Who am I?
I’m Florie. I’m 29 and I’m passionate about my work, travelling and dogs (yes, dogs).
In January 2019 I embarked on the adventure of self-entrepreneurship by becoming a freelance translator. I am also a French proofreader.
Since October 2023, I have been accompanied by my dog, Sola, my happiness manager: she forces me to take my eyes off my screen and go for walks (a real plus for the productivity of my small business).
My journey
I was born in September 1995 in France.
I grew up in the Gers where I obtained my high school diploma in 2013. Not really knowing what to do with my life, I decided to study English and Chinese, as I have always loved languages. Therefore, I left Auch and arrived in Toulouse and started a Bachelor’s degree in applied foreign languages at the university Toulouse II Jean-Jaurès. This Bachelor’s degree was a real challenge for me and my 3rd year marked a turning point in my life since I lived in China for a year for an exchange program.
With my degree in hand, I went to Lyon in September 2016 and started a Master’s degree in translation specialized in the medical field, as medicine has always fascinated me. During this Master’s degree, I learned a lot about the work of translator, specialy when I did a 6-month internship in a translation agency (e2f) in 2018. After this internship, a fixed-term contract was offered to me. Unfortunately, the agency changed its mind 2 weeks before signing my contract. At the time, I was distraught. In the end, what at the time seemed like a real disaster, turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me since it forced me to become a freelance translator. Since then, I’ve offered my translation services from English into French in the following fields: medical, well-being, tourism, beauty and fashion (non-exhaustive list).
In October 2023, I adopted my dog, Sola but also started a 6-month training course as a French proofreader with the EFLC in order to add a string to my bow. I obtained the Voltaire certificate (Expert level) in April 2023. My first client: my brother who asked me to correct contents for his company A ti te toca.
